“The goddess doesn’t just want you to worship her, she wants you to transform and become her. Become on the outside who you know you are inside.” -ADRIANA RIZZOLO

LAKSMI

Maha-Lakshmi: Prakriti | Maya | Shakti

“I am inherent in existence. I am the inciter, the potential that takes shape. I manifest myself. I occupy myself with activity and finally dissolve myself. I pervade all creations with vitality, will and consciousness. Like ghee that keeps a lamp burning, I lubricate the senses of living beings with the sap of my consciousness.”

-Devdutt Pattanaik, Lakshmi: The Goddess of Wealth & Fortune

I was introduced to the Shakti (power/energy) of Lakshmi in a workshop in Brooklyn, by Sally Kempton – an amazing teacher from a lineage I have learned much of my meditation and healing inner work from called Kashmir Shaivism.

Since then Lakshmi has shown up, and I've been practicing returning to her again and again over the years when I need something sustainable amidst so much uncertainty.

In moments when I can't hold or Mother myself, when the overwhelm of feeling is too much and I need some space to feel so big and still be beautiful. It's kind of how you run to the ocean when you just can't take it anymore, but when you can't get there the vibration of the Lakshmi's mantra can take you there inside.

Systems of oppression will push us into not being able to rest, or acknowledge the parts of us that heal through dreaming and rest.

Trauma has this way of making it impossible for us to use our imagination. It can literally rob us of the ability to dream, imagine a new reality, be with the unknown in a positive but grounded way, one that allows us to make change. So, if that's you, little by little when you open to healing what harms, then you begin to reclaim both your ability and right to dream, and find pleasure within your own experience and body.

We often put pressure on ourselves around what we should be experiencing, when pleasure comes or we intentionally call her, she holds no judgements or ideas about how you should or shouldn't be. She loves all bodies, all sexual orientations and gender identities. The same is true for beauty, compassion, generosity and abundance.

I get that it can be so easy to fall into abandonment and lack right now. But together we are going to lift each other up to say YES to getting the rest and care we need inside to keep showing up!
