Sacred Agreements for Body Temple Spaces

Creating a Supportive, Brave, and Healing Container

This space is sacred—a place for healing, growth, and the honoring of each person’s unique journey. These agreements help us co-create an environment of love, respect, and transformation.

1. Love is the Foundation

Everything we do here begins and ends with unconditional love.

2. Confidentiality & Trust

What is shared in this space stays in this space. We honor each other’s privacy by not sharing names, stories, or personal details outside this container.

3. Speak from the Heart

Share from your direct experience whenever possible. Authenticity is welcome.

4. Listen with Presence

Practice deep listening—with respect, compassion, and curiosity. Notice how your body feels as you share and as you receive others’ words.

5. See Others in Their Power

Honor the strength, beauty, and sovereignty of each person, even when discomfort arises within you.

6. No Need to Rehearse

Trust yourself and speak when it’s your turn without overthinking.

7. Hold Space, Not Solutions

Simply listen. No advice or responses unless specifically requested.

8. Boundaries & Consent

Respect each person's boundaries and do not contact others outside of this space unless permission is given. Each individual has the right to engage in a way that feels safe for them.

9. Self-Care & Personal Agency

You are responsible for your well-being. If something doesn’t feel right, honor your needs—step back, take a break, or opt out of an activity.

10. Emotions Are Welcome

Healing involves allowing emotions to surface. While this is not a therapy session, we hold space for vulnerability with compassion and without judgment.

11. Inclusivity & Open-Heartedness

We welcome all identities, orientations, preferences, and experiences with curiosity and respect. If judgment arises, we reflect on where it may come from within us.

12. Reflection & Respect

What others share may open healing within us because we are all reflections of one another. At the same time we respect each individual’s life experience which varies according to many factors including race, class, gender, societal and systemic racism, classism, ableism, gender inequality and oppression, as well as many more nuances not listed here.

13. Strengthening Our Spiritual Connection

We are here to deepen our spiritual practices and embodied love relationships, inspiring one another as we heal and share our gifts.

14. Embracing Rupture & Repair

Conflict and misattunement are natural parts of growth. We hold a brave and “mirrored” space, not just a safe space—one that invites responsibility, communication, and sovereignty. We commit to tending to our own victimhood and blame into self-awareness, self-love, and service.

15. A Sacred Space for Healing & Growth

This is a place to heal wounds and celebrate the brilliance within every human being. Be gentle with yourself and others when needed.

16. Assume Activation

In Body Temple Dance, we work from the principle that every body is already alive with sensation, memory, and spirit. To “assume activation” means we begin practice as if the body, the heart, and the room are already pulsing with energy—because they are. Trauma, lineage, eros, grief, rage, devotion—these are not things we summon from nothing. They live here, under the skin, in the fascia, in the breath.

When we assume activation:

  • We don’t wait to be “good enough” or “ready.” We enter as we are.

  • We honor the nervous system’s wisdom—whether it shows up as trembling, tears, numbness, pleasure, or resistance.

  • We approach the body as already sacred, already turned on by life force, already connected to the Divine regardless of pleasant, unpleasant or neutral sensations when in space together.

This teaching keeps us from chasing peak states or performance. It roots us in the truth that the temple is always open, the altar of the body always giving us information, giving us permission to notice without needing an answer right away based on how our body is responding to a practice, an exercise, or someone else’s share. Our work is not to make it happen but to listen, move, and allow what is already activated to reveal itself.

In practice, “assume activation” is both radical trust and radical humility within oneself and with Goddess. It breaks the colonized habit of treating the body as an object to be forced, or the less mature perception that how we feel in the moment in the only reality and instead restores it as an oracle to be witnessed, honored, and moved with. We open to parts through the body’s languages.

16. We practice seeing everyone as God in Drag.

We respect each other and recognize we all have wisdom to impart and things to learn from each other. No one person is an expert in intimacy, and we are all on a path of learning together.

17. We take full responsibility for ourselves:

and allow for the same of other participants This means if something in your group feels uncomfortable you can speak up, leave the room and be reassigned, or call me into the room.

18. A Living Agreement: This is a work in progress and open to discussion.

Sensational and Emotional Tracking

“There must be an integration of one’s shadow parts to achieve equilibrium in self. From accessing this center, balance is restored, and one can efficiently model their most authentic self in guiding others to muster the courage to delve into their own dark richness” – La Espiritista
